Councillors in favour of proposals to build storage units at a disused yard

An application by Vortex Scotland Ltd to build three units at Newark Street, Port Glasgow, at the foot of Clune Brae, is due to be considered by Inverclyde Planning Board in January.

Officials are recommending approval, stating in their report: “The proposal will be sited in close proximity to other business and industrial uses, will present new opportunities for local employment through the growth of local business and will allow for an existing local employer to remain within the local area.

“The proposal will also bring a long-standing brownfield site back into active use.”

No public objections have been received.
